When does the program accept students to register?

Summer starts in May & Fall starts in August.

When are the orientation months for the program?

April for the Summer Term & June for the Fall Term.

What are the admission requirements?

High School Diploma/18 years of age.

How long is the program?

One year; 3 terms. Summer start is Summer, Fall & Spring (externship) and Fall start is Fall, Spring & Summer externship.

What are the hours of the program?

Need to be available Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; days vary depending on the term courses.

Are weekend courses available?

No, not at this point.

Is it a blended/online program?

No, all is in person, including the externship component at a designated dental office.

How will I be taught?

In person, at the Medical Campus.

Do I need to take a test to work in this profession?

No, you can start working once you are finished with the program. You can take the RDA (Registered Dental Assistant) certification after graduation if interested.

What is the dress code?

Scrubs; black pants, purple top and black sneakers.

What are the requirements to complete clinical or externship rotations?

All Didactic courses.

What kind of degree will I be awarded when I graduate?

Dental Assistant Diploma, EFDA (Expanded Functions Dental Assistant) and Radiology Certificates.

What are the license requirements after graduation?

None, go straight to work.

Where can we get our books?

Campus Book Store; all resources are at our bookstore.

What are the tuition costs?

Do you assist with job placement after graduation?

The Medical Campus does not provide job placement. Through the Career Center located in the New Student Center on the Medical Campus, graduates may review employment opportunities that have been forwarded to the Career Center.

How do I apply for the Program?

Step 1: Complete a Miami Dade College application if you have never taken classes at MDC or haven't taken classes in more than an academic year. Remember to also apply for financial aid.

Step 2: Send transcripts from your high school and previously attended colleges/universities as applicable.

Step 3: Meet with a Medical Campus Advisor to discuss program requirements and milestone checkpoints.
