Michael Rodriguez – trumpet

Grammy Award-winning trumpeter and composer Michael Rodriguez has performed with some of jazz’s most celebrated artists, including Clark Terry, Quincy Jones, Joe Lovano, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. Born in Queens, New York, and inspired by his father, drummer Roberto Rodriguez, he studied at New World School of the Arts in Miami, the University of Miami and The New School in New York City. Rodriguez has recorded with Charlie Haden, Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Chick Corea’s Spanish Heart Band, earning Grammy recognition for Land of the Sun and Antidote. With his brother, pianist Robert Rodriguez, he has released five albums as the Rodriguez Brothers, along with two albums as a leader. A member of the SFJazz Collective, Rodriguez is also on the faculty at New York University and Juilliard Jazz.

All concerts are free and open to the public. Live performances will take place at Wolfson Campus Auditorium, 300 N.E. Second Ave., Miami, FL 33132. Building 1, Room 1261. Performances will be livestreamed, except for the student ensembles.
