Jimmy Greene – tenor saxophone
A native of Connecticut, Jimmy Greene is a respected saxophonist, recording artist, composer and educator. He has released 13 albums as a leader and appeared on more than 100 as a sideman, earning two Grammy nominations for his 2014 album Beautiful Life. His latest recording, As We Are Now, was released to critical acclaim in 2025. Greene has received composition honors from ASCAP/IAJE, Chamber Music America and the Connecticut Commission on Culture and Tourism, and has performed worldwide with his quartet and quintet, as well as Ron Carter’s Foursight Quartet. He has worked with artists including Horace Silver, Freddie Hubbard, Harry Connick Jr. and Dee Dee Bridgewater. Greene is a professor of music and co-coordinator of jazz studies at Western Connecticut State University and an advocate for the arts and education through his service and charitable work.
All concerts are free and open to the public. Live performances will take place at Wolfson Campus Auditorium, 300 N.E. Second Ave., Miami, FL 33132. Building 1, Room 1261. Performances will be livestreamed, except for the student ensembles.
